Just a pic of my g.i.b

I love her watching me with confidence after years of incredible shyness. Of course I only wanted to show you one of my shawls ;-)

And she has this little big friend I'm so fond of. I've learned a lot just watching them living their dog lives with us. I wish I colud sleep like they both do - but sure enough I would never share her life as a racer even if I love Ireland so much.

Wednesday 25 January 2012

I'm so small, so thin, so sweet. I'm a spanish galgo and I'm a rescue dog. I will have  this nice opportunity to travel to Italy where a family with two dogs and two kids will take care of me for the years to come. All I know is that the lady of the house is a knitter (rumors say she is a knitacholic with lots of friends like her) and that one of the dogs is a rescue greyhound. It's more than enough. I'm packing....

Valentina's project with Zabbers's yarn

I' ve started a test knitting - maybe it's not - of the Valentina Cosciani' s Capuccino. I have this lovely handspun yarn Zabbers sent me. It's a hand painted Blue faced Leicester fleece named Camouflage from High bid farm, Brockport NY.
The main colour is more bright green and I really love the way the sand cables used by Tibisay for her pattern  does work with a handspun yarn.

Zabbers' s magical envelope

I' d like to share a quick post about the bonanza hidden in my socks swap's partner envelope the post lady just gave to me
I'm at my office desk right now and I have just a few minutes left before I start my job, so let's tell you more about the sock swap.
As said, I have to thank Carrie from a place with a nice feminine name -  Ann Arbor - in Michigan. She is the one who made me giggle like a 10 years old girl unwrapping her most awaited present. Let me explain what I tried to put into one single photo: as you can see there is a pair of super soft socks. They deserve a special description later on, then a knitted beret with a stylish, 30thies look. And a skein of home dyed and home spun greenish wool I simply adore. I'll knit a special pattern for me with this yarn. It's a hat some friends of mine are testing, named Capuccino beanie.
Then there is was all an owl-lover would love to add to her collection: a note book, a book mark, even a cork with an owl, and oh-so-nice stitch markers.
I have to add more goodies: a special tea flower (I love them, they are so nice when opening in a bowl of hot water), sweeties, dired red cherries ... and here we come to the recipe for an asian dish I'll try as soon as I have all my family dinig together. I think it was written Carrie will share that recipe with me, because last week I found some fresh lemongrass at a farmer market and I put it in my freezer. ...
As a super extra bonus I got a huge assortiment of cool aid powder for my future dyeing (thanks, thanks, thanks)  and an interesting article about what seems to be a traditional, surely peculiar way of singing. I 'm so curious about this, really.
Carrie, you've made my day! No, you've made me happy and proud to be part of this very special socks swapping comunity on Ravelry.

An now to the socks: sorry for the miserable pictures, that's my office floor.... the socks are a perfect fit and they are cabled on the front and on the back side. They are so lovely I have to buy proper clogs to show them out. Till spring they'll warm my feet when watching tv or/and knitting. The colour is like the green of amethist, even if they seem gray in the pic.
A very lucky me is going to work now.

A sunny Saturday in Ljubljana

Big shopping day in Ljubljana today. Well, not really. Infact I'm proud to tell you that I just gave a look to a red, black and brown bra from Ag.provocateur : half priced it runs about 90 euro, the tiny panties 50€. Now I know for sure the origin of the brand's name.....
But I had a mission to complete, a bunch of Ito silk to order at Niti Niti for the project of the year - a wedding stole. And I had to visit my beloved no fashion wool shop, where I always find some rather harsh yarn, the one I love the best for the smell that reminds me of Scotland and for the lanoline still present in the skeins.
Not to mention the bargain price. Sure enough my bride-to-be will not have to walk down the aisle wearing a heavy woolen, carpet alike throw. She will be wrapped into the most beautiful shawl you'll ever see. That's because it is still to be knitted and it is still to be express in a pattern version. Right now it' s a floating idea, a challenge. But I'm really confident about the final product.
For all the ladies that will visit Ljubljana next month I have a formal invitation for them to a coffe break at the Nebotičnik - it means skyskraper and that's  what it is. They offer a superb capuccino and have a yummy selection of cakes.  And a great terrace with a terrific view.

No winter in sight

ľm wondering why there is no snow outside. Why it's like early spring?
But I don`t really care. What I`m looking at is the knitting bowl Bubiknits offers as a giveaway. Right now that`s all I can manage to do from my Ipad. This afternoon I`ll try to post her banner, but you can already have a look at her nice blog and at her even nicer giveaway.

See you, Bubi!

2012

So, at least we are in 2012. Another year to cope with. And with an additional day....... Arghhhh.
I'm sure I'll need some help. Look, a pair of spare hands (paws)!
He will have to help me!
Indeed we did cooperate to CO and BO the very same day a KAL called Nouage bleu - I'm sure there will be a link on Ravlery because Tibisay is very efficient as a moderator.
Apart from this, I'm still thinking about entering the current international sock swap. I have a titanic work in front of me, my beloved Chiara is going to marry her fiancee at the very beginning of June. And I'll knit the wedding stole for her. Will I have enough time for such an intensive knitting work? Will I have enough time at all? The kids, the dogs, my work, my friends, my cooking, my readings????
Do I sound on the verge of depression? A little bit hysterical?
No way. I'll wait another week, then I'll make my decision. In the meantime I'll try to cuddle my boys, dreaming about another dog to rescue....as for knitting... here it is, my first 2012 knitted garment, just washed and fluffy.
  Thanks, Gormit, for helping
